So I started my Vampire: the Requiem game this last Wednesday, and things got started really quick. All the characters, who are either newly released or just recently awoke from a long torpor, were invited to the grand opening of the Arbiter’s (a position created by the current prince to oversee and handle disputes between the Covenants) nightclub, called Club Jaded (to my players – yes I changed the name).
They danced and checked out the art gallery in the back and in general caroused with the other Kindred of the city. One Kindred, one of the blood-diseased Malkavians (one of the characters) saw a horrendous vision of the building exploding and blood pouring out of the doors and windows. Then the Prince started to make an announcement and right as she started her speech the front windows exploded as incendiary grenades came flying into the building. Gunshots ripped through the new openings, filling any vampire that was unlucky to be in the path of fire with incendiary rounds. The Sheriff was hit a couple of times and seemed to shrug it off as he sought to protect the Prince.
So it was that our characters meet for the first time as they all decided to head outside and check out the scene of the crime. Three Invictus, a Ventrue (Giovanni Bloodline), two Daeva (one of the Kallisti bloodline, and another of the Spina bloodline), an Ordo Dracul Ventrue (of the aforementioned Malkavian ‘bloodline’
, a Circle of the Crone Mekhet (of the Assamite bloodline), and a Carthian Gangrel (of the Maverick bloodline) all started looking around for any clues as to the attackers. Eventually the Sheriff approached them and deputized them, asking them to look into the attack and to destroy those responsible.
Our characters went to a nearby diner to discuss their next plan of action. Some Bruja walked in and the group managed to get some information from them. The Giovanni even called in a favor with his police contact. Eventually the Sheriff called and told them that the bouncer ghoul out front saw brightly painted lowriders and SUVs do a drive-by gangbanger style. That led our group to the Lower City District where they are now being chased by some gangbangers who have opened fire on them!
